Other Processed Food Products
Beginning of retail initiatives has made us to extend the mandate from being a raw material producer to become a supplier of processed products. While this initiative is enabling us to expand the portfolio of raw materials, it is also challenging us to develop the value chain management expertise in many new areas.
Morarka as a strategy has been working with small entrepreneurs. For all the value added products we have identified new and young entrepreneurs to set up processing facilities. Besides complete investment in R&D, in many cases a large part of investment in infrastructure has also been made by Morarka. Off course all the units are also certified for organic besides regular quality certifications.
This initiative has also enabled many primary producers to take up value addition activities at farm level itself. Many of them have also invested to create some very high end processing facilities. This has also been helping to convert agriculture in to agribusiness in a big way.
8.1 Roasted Snacks:The first initiative was to develop a range of healthy snacks, through roasting process. Indians are very fond of chewing snacks all the time. Conventional snacks are made with not so healthy edible oils and many spices used are also not of very good quality. Morarka has therefore developed many unique processes to make them and has also innovated the packaging solutions to deliver a range of products made out of Cereals, Pulses and Groundnut. About 20 products have already been put on the retail shelf and have also become very popular in the market.
8.2 Breakfast Cereals:Beginning with the most popular cereal being Cornflakes, this range has also been expanded to make breakfast cereals from Wheat, Jowar and Ragi. The millet based products are very high on fiber as well as very nutritious. In addition some traditional breakfast products like Rice Poha (Beaten Rice) and Jhalmuri (Puffed Rice) has also been introduced.
8.3 Papad Mangodi (Indian Ready to Cook items): Most Indian meals have many accompanying dishes. A large number of them have been traditionally made either at home and or by very small home based units. Morarka has made special efforts to get this range of food items made with organic ingredients and also as per certified organic processes. Though the conversion of traditional processes has been sufficiently difficult, but bigger challenge has been to develop the suitable storage & packaging solutions, so that shelf life could be maintained.
8.4 Sauces & Pickles: A very important constituent of Indian Meals. Off course, not only so for India alone, but in almost every culture there are some local specialty side dishes that are integral to over all food. Morarka has now developed a range of items, both traditional as well as quite a few of them to meet the emerging tastes of new generations.

8.6 Cookies, Confectionaries & Bakery Products: In about two years Morarka has been able to convert many Bakery units to introduce a range of items made with organic ingredients. Some of them have also launched organic range in their own brand names, while some have taken up joint production with Morarka to launch anew range under Morarka banner.
8.7 Indian Masala Mixes:A very important product for the modern generation as well as for institutional food service organizations. Every one is now dependent on the ready made masala mixes for cooking traditional food items. Many leading brands have conventional range, with the introduction of organic range, the consumers now have a healthy option.
